Its almost official, Chris Paul is on his way out of New Orleans to the LA Lakers . Lakers’ Forward Lamar Odom is being sent to New Orleans and Pau Gasol is also being shipped out to of Los Angeles to the Houston Rockets in a three team deal.

Chris Paul’s reaction on twitter last night did not show he was too happy with the trade. All he he tweeted in response to the Hornets’ decision was, “WoW”. Luckily for CP3, the deal has actually been put on hold because many of the NBA owners have pressured David Stern into killing the trade. Stern is saying the deal is off and Chris Paul may be taking legal action. Here’s the statement released by the NBA from Stern:

“Since the NBA purchased the New Orleans Hornets, final responsibility for significant management decisions lies with the Commissioner’s Office in consultation with team chairman Jac Sperling. All decisions are made on the basis of what is in the best interests of the Hornets. In the case of the trade proposal that was made to the Hornets for Chris Paul, we decided, free from the influence of other NBA owners, that the team was better served with Chris in a Hornets uniform than by the outcome of the terms of that trade.”

Yeah right, Stern didn’t decide to terminate the deal free from influence of other NBA owners; if it wasn’t for the NBA owners, the trade would have been official.

lakers dream team 300x300 Chris Paul to the Lakers

This just goes to show that the Hornets being owned by the NBA is so ridiculous. Just because the rest of the NBA owners — Mark Cuban and Dan Gilbert in particular– are upset and jealous of the situation, they’re allowed to veto the trade and basically regulate where Chris Paul goes this season. Chris Paul, Lamar Odom and Pau Gasol are all going to be practicing Friday, and there’s no question that their respective teams are going to have an uncomfortable time preparing for the start of the season.

It would have all been perfect but now we have to wait and see what happens with the Chris Paul situation and then we have to wait longer to see Howard in a yellow jersey because he is now requesting a trade to New Jersey. What’s with Chris Paul too. The thought of playing with Kobe Bryant and Dwight Howard should seem very appealing to any pro but that’s not the case here; maybe its because Howard may not come to the Lakers any more. CP3 is one of the best point guards and sees himself living happier playing for someone other than the Lakers.I guess we have to wait a while longer before we see the Lakers build their dream team.

Will the Lakers build the dream team they want?
