The NY Jets played and lost their final game against the Miami Dolphins Saturday 19-17 .
That means the Jets are out of the playoffs this year; the first time in three years.
The offensive coordinator for the NY Jets, Brian Schottenheimer, benched their star receiver Santonio Holmes after he had an altercation with his teamates.
In the beginning of the second half, Santonio Holmes got into a verbal argument with a few of his team mates.
Some of the players felt that Santonio Holmes had quit on the team based on his body language.
This lead to Santonio Holmes getting benched by Schottenheimer without the consent of Rex Ryan.
Ryan had explained that he had no idea that Santonio Holmes had been benched after replacement, Patrick Turner, scored a 10-yard touchdown to bring the Jets to within two points.
The most important fact of Saturday’s game was that the Jets weren’t going to the playoffs this year.
Why the hell is everyone worrying about a mopey receiver who didn’t even complete a catch all game?
Because its an excuse for failing to make it to the playoffs for the first time in three years.
However, I think its a quite valid excuse.
Team morale is a catalyst for performing well.
There wasn’t much positive energy left in the NY Jets after their star receiver had a temper tantrum.
The Jets couldn’t keep their composure and unfortunately had to suffer a loss at the expense of selfishness.
One player even explained that he’s a cancer and its like dealing with a 10-year old.
Santonio Holmes is a great player but he needs to grow up.
A professional needs to hold it together under any circumstance.
This wasn’t Santonio Holmes’ first temper tantrum and it probably won’t be his last.
