Lionel Messi does it once again and becomes a legend at the prime age of 24 after winning the FIFA Ballon d’Or Award for the third year in a row. Everyone knew Lionel Messi was going to win the award once again. He’s the first player since Michel Platini to win the award three consecutive years in a row.

Runner-up in the polls was Cristiano Ronaldo who was followed by Xavi. It was funny that Ronaldo decided not to show up to the gala because he knew he was only taking home silver this year. I’m quite glad that Ronaldo didn’t win this year. He didn’t deserve the title. Ronaldo probably would have went up and thanked himself for winning the award. Messi presented a classic speech and announced that he wanted to share it with his team mate Xavi.

Messi knows that he no longer has to prove he is the best footballer of his generation. I knew all along that Messi was going to prove for the ages that he is better than Cristiano Ronaldo. You may think I’m exaggerating but I’m sorry you can’t handle the truth. No wonder Messi won the award this year. His performance has been remarkable this season.

He has a total of 32 goals in all competitions this season. Surprisingly, Ronaldo (26 goals) is beating Messi (17 goals) in the race to score the most goals in the Primera Division. Messi and Ronaldo have been compared to one another ever since they entered the professional footballing world.

Both players have proven to their respective clubs that they are worth the investment. Of course , it’s obvious that Messi is the more profitable asset. Regardless, both players’ market values have risen from the beginning of their careers. It’s natural to compare both superstars’ performance. I’m sure Messi will win it next year as well. Only time will tell.
