Shaq Diesel is the man. Many people will find it hard to believe — excluding me — but this weekend, the NBA legend will be receiving his doctorate in education. Shaq recieved his PhD (EdD) in Organizational Leadership with a specialization in Human Resources Development at Barry University in Miami Shores, Fla, and from now on would like to be known as “Dr. O’Neal”.
Prior to receiving the PhD, Shaq completed his undergrad from LSU and majored in general studies while obtaining his minor in political science. He then attended the University of Pheonix and completed his Masters degree in Business Administration.
How did Shaq do it? He put in more than four years of grad school work, completed 16 courses, 54 hours and finished with a 3.81 GPA. Most of his classes were 1-on-1 sessions with his Prof, David M. Koop, via satelite who explained that the big man never missed a single appointment. All I have to say is congrads Shaq, and thanks for showing and inspiring everyone exactly how to defy the system and make our mommas proud at the same time.
